Events

There is always something going on in Turnhout. Many events cheer up the town centre. The most important events are to be found in the annual events calendar, which is published in playing card format.

The Turnhoutse VRIJ-dagen (FRIday FREE days), the “Terrastheater” (Terrace theatre), “Verlooren Mondagh”, the town park celebrations, heritage days, carillon concerts, Turnhout fair…are but a few of the most popular.

Numerous clubs and societies are also active in Turnhout and organise many activities, which are so popular that they even attract people from well outside the area. Festivals like Strip Turnhout (Comic book festival) and Open Doek (Film festival) attract an international audience. Every six years, there is a re-enactment of the Battle of Turnhout. The events calendar gives you an idea of how much there is to experience.

There are of course also sporting events, such as the Water Sports Festival, the Variathlon and many others.
