A number of restaurants and eateries filled with atmosphere and dining pleasure will do everything necessary to surround you with comfort. A cultural visit, followed by a company visit or a walk through one of the beautiful nature reserves. Take your pick. Whichever program you select, we will carefully prepare.
How to select a program?
Using the easy brochure 'Unieke groepsuitstappen, Turnhout speelt zijn troeven uit' (Unique city trips, Turnhout plays its trump cards), you can put together your daytrip. This brochure, which incidentally is very well illustrated, consists of four sections, of which you can make a selection. Walking through the Turnhout Fen area
Did you know that the north of Turnhout is one of the most important heath areas in Flanders? A number of valuable fens and heaths are dispersed over the area. The heaths are the biotope of rare plants and animals which have adapted specifically to this environment. Natuurpunt has assigned several meadows to accommodate birds by creating ponds and relief. Other plots are under a decreasing management which positively influences diversity in plant growth and creates a colour contrast with the heavily infected grass lands. In the Turnhout fen area you still find water lobelia, floating water plantain and shore weed, true rarities in Flanders , which make their last home here! Information panes draw the attention to the history, management and ecological value of the plot. Let yourself be carried away by this natural beauty.

National Museum of the Playing Card – TRAM 41
Did you know Turnhout is fond of playing cards? Better: that the whole world plays with cards made in Turnhout? The unique Playing Card Museum tells the story. Go on a journey through time to see the history of the game, discover the various uses of cards and get to know de different printing procedures. The cherry on the cake is an authentic steam machine.

Walks and tours
Walking through the Turnhout people's folk tale
Every town has its own folk characters and legends. They are often the subject of stories, passed down from one generation to another. Oral history enriches true events with mischief, irony, self-mockery, … even with drama. What remains of the truth? Where does the fantasy begin? Why did even the most esteemed Inhabitants of Turnhout steal a "seuzie" (a blanket) in their day? Who was the saint Teunis? What were those cats doing in the “Bescheten Straatje”? Can you just go up and kiss the cheeks of the Madelon? What happened to the tunnel between the friars' monastery and the nuns' monastery? Who poached fish from the castle moat? A guide will cost € 50,00 euro for 2 hours. Every additional hour costs € 20,00. To guarantee audibility, the guided groups are limited to 25 persons. The museum guides limit the groups to 15 to 20 persons. The city museums charge € 1,50 per person (min 15); the additional charge for the tour is € 30,00. Boerenfluiterspad (Whistling farmer's path)
Did you know you can make whistles of plants and flowers? No? Then it is time for you to discover the Boerenfluiterspad. This is a playful hand-on walk through the beautiful north of Turnhout. You will get to know the country side, agriculture and gardening. You will walk through the beautiful nature, pass by several agricultural companies and are challenged to complete various fun assignments. Can you jump as far some animals can? Can you predict the weather? A playful way to discover what the country has to offer. This educational path is always with the company of a guide and is interesting for schools, adolescent associations and families.
Do you want to start the morning with coffee and a roll? And have lunch in the city? Or rather in the beautiful Turnhout greens? All this is possible. Depending on the size of your group, your price range and desired setting, we can recommend several excellent eateries.
